About:

I attained my Bachelor’s in Art Studio from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida in 2006. In 2012, I began to etch glass using hand-cut and painted stencils, completing multiple commissions in the process. My etchings resulted from the negative space of the stencils themselves: undulating lines, patterns and figures against clear, colored and textured glass. After the birth of my only son in 2016, I left my full-time job of 10 years with Valpak to pursue art full-time. In painting, I focus on mixing abstract expressionism, symbolism and the stories they can tell with limited acrylic palettes and textures. My latest series is about Cancer. I am a childhood cancer survivor and my father passed from Lung Cancer in 2016 (before my son was born that same year). This series is a reflection on how we remembered the stress, fear of death, loss and the differences between child and adult memories of the same experiences. I split my art time between painting and etching glass. In the future, I want to include other's stories about Cancer alongside my own. I intend to donate a percentage of proceeds raised from the Cancer series to fund cancer research and provide assistance to families going through treatment and or loss. Currently, I am taking a break from the Cancer Series to focus on abstract expressionistic painting as the Cancer Series in itself is a tough one to process psychologically for an extended period of time with no break from its dark nature.
